Venus Beach Cafes to raise funds for S. Hams charities in £12,000 competition

The Venus Company, based at Stoke Fleming near Dartmouth, has devised the 'Sin & Win' quiz competition to enable local residents and visitors to the region to put their local knowledge to the test.

More than 25 companies from the South Hams and the immediate surrounding areas have provided nearly 50 prizes for the competition, which also actively promotes their top quality local products and services. They include six fantastic short breaks, five delicious meals and lots of South Hams products.

Entry forms for the free prize-draw competition are available from The Venus Company's three beach cafes at Blackpool Sands, East Portlemouth and Bigbury-on-Sea. All residents and visitors have to do is to correctly answer seven simple quiz questions testing their local knowledge of the South Hams and then complete a tie-breaker in no more than 20 words.

The local competition will support a £8.7 million national 'Seven Deadly Sins' promotion by Wall's Ice Cream for its Magnum ice lollies. During the period to September, the company is promoting seven new limited edition flavours based on the seven sins, Lust, Sloth, Gluttony, Greed, Jealousy, Revenge & Vanity.

The Venus Company's Managing Director Michael Smith said: "We're delighted to run this fun quiz, which we hope local residents and visitors to the area will enjoy. As well as inviting them to eat delicious ice creams and win great prizes, we will donate 1p for every Magnum 7 Sins purchase to a local charity."

Throughout the summer, The Venus Company expects to raise several hundred pounds for the South Hams Radio Trust, which will distribute the funds to local charities and good causes.
