Venus opens at Watergate Bay
The award winning chain of West Country environmentally friendly beach cafes and shops has expanded with the official opening of a new Venus Café at The Hotel and Extreme Academy at Watergate Bay in Cornwall. The Venus Company recently won the prestigious Gold Award in the National Sustainable Tourism category of the Enjoy England for Excellence Awards.
The new location adds to the existing Venus Café and Beach Shop facilities at Tolcarne Beach in Newquay and to three further operations at Blackpool Sands, Bigbury on Sea and East Portlemouth beaches in South Devon.
At Watergate Bay, Britain’s premier water sports and surf destination, Venus has refurbished existing takeaway facilities to offer the full Venus menu of alfresco Mediterranean style takeaway meals and refreshments and there are plans to open two mobile units at the destination during peak summer months. The emphasis is on fast food with a difference using the finest, quality local and organic ingredients sourced from Cornwall and Devon. Venus pays particular attention to children’s meals with an emphasis on tasty organic healthy options.
Michael Smith, Venus managing director explains the decision to expand into Watergate Bay. “We have developed a brand, renowned for quality, customer care and corporate responsibility. Our ethos of “Loving the Beach” fits perfectly with The Hotel & Extreme Academy’s strong commitment to the environment, local economy and social community.
“We were delighted to be invited to run an operation at Watergate Bay, a top Cornish beach destination. The businesses at Watergate Bay share the values of quality and sustainability. We also happen to get on well together! This expansion complements our existing business operations in Newquay and allows for the employment of a further 2 full time and 8 part time members of staff to our Cornish team.”
Will Ashworth of The Hotel and Extreme Academy said: “We were aware of what Venus was doing at Tolcarne beach and liked the company’s environmentally friendly business approach. When the opportunity arose to improve our takeaway facility, the choice of partner was a natural one. It’s really good news for all our visitors to Watergate Bay.”
The Venus Café at Watergate Bay is open every day from 10am to 5pm.
